Every year, the Latinx Resource Center hosts the largest back-to-school gathering for new and returning UC Irvine students, and this year was no exception. More than 500 attended La Bienvenida for a vibrant night of culture, family, resources and comunidad. Student organizations from across campus participated, including UC Prime Pre-Health Pathways, CAMP, SACNAS, Basic Needs Center, LBSA, Hermanas Unidas, and Pre-Law Latinx Association, among others, demonstrating the broad coalition of support for Latinx student success. This beloved annual event draws eager anticipation from students and staff alike, as everyone unites under one roof for the same purpose, to share student resources that fuel student success. More than just a fun gathering, La Bienvenida serves as a powerful celebration that showcases the diverse voices and vibrant culture that defines the Latinx student experience at UC Irvine.

This year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Stephanie Reyes-Tuccio, Vice Provost for Educational and Community Partnerships. As one of the highest-ranking Latinas on the UC Irvine campus, she shared a powerful message of transparency, support and hope for all students in attendance. Her speech was followed by special performances by Ballet Folklorico de UCI, Brown Bag Theatre, and Mariachi Orgullo de UCI. The performances brought to life the essential role that performing arts play in preserving and celebrating Latinx culture. As students immersed themselves in these cultural expressions, they also established meaningful connections with fellow Anteaters, creating bonds that extend far beyond the event itself. La Bienvenida continues to stand as a testament to the strength and unity found in celebrating heritage and its impact on student success and we are proud to be a partner in this celebration.
